For those of you who don’t know what Birchbox is, it is a monthly subscription for $10/month. The subscription consists of a few monthly beauty samples that come in a box. It is personalized, so there is no worry about getting something you can’t use. I’d been hearing about these kinds of subscriptions and decided to go with Birchbox for its point system and such. This is all about my first impressions and the contents of my first box.

I love how this is packaged, first off. They take amazing care in protecting their items: inside the box the stuff was shipped in was a cute little pink box wrapped in bubble wrap, which held the actual box with the contents. The packaging was adorable. The contents were wrapped in cute magenta tissue paper.

(MALIN+GOETZ) Cleanser and Moisturizer

The first things I pulled out was the (MALIN+GOETZ) grapefruit face cleanser and vitamin e face moisturizer.
Let me tell you, this cleanser is nothing like Neutrogena’s grapefruit cleanser. Their’s tends to leave my skin dry and tight, even through I have oily skin. (MALIN+GOETZ)’s cleanser left my skin simply clean, debris-free, and smooth. It has a heavenly smell, but it’s definitely a natural scent. It tingled a little on my nose, but it never stung (as it shouldn’t. I used a nickel-sized amount for my whole face and used circular motions to clean my face. I have acne-prone and excessively oily skin and I woke up this morning (I swear) with less inflamed acne, acne scars, and a more even skin tone. I am in love!

The vitamin e face moisturizer is also awesome. I would not give this an A because of the packaging of the sample. I have never liked packets for these kinds of samples. I feel like a jar of sorts would have been better, as a little goes a long way with this moisturizer. I used a nickel-sized amount and it was too much for my face. What I love about this moisturizer is that it is lightweight, but does what it is supposed to do. It settles into my skin quite quickly, leaving it smooth.

eSalon’s Perfect Ending Leave-in Conditioner

I used to use leave-in conditioner every time I washed my hair when I’d dye my whole head. For the past 3 years, I have been staying away from that. Just 2 weeks ago, I decided to bleach my whole head and go silver. I bleached it twice, so my hair was fried. After using this conditioner when I got out of the shower, my hair dried super soft, shiny, and voluminous. I am IN LOVE. This is an amazing sample size, as well. Oh, and it smells amazing!

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo

I have thin, fine, and oily hair. This means dry shampoo is my saving grace. I have tried many of them, and this one was not all too special. Don’t get me wrong, I love the smell of this and the fact that it does not leave a powdery residue, but I like Batiste dry shampoo a bit better. This one did not soak up the oil in my hair after just one day without washing. Batiste would have me down for at least 2 days.

Dr. Lipp Miracle Balm

I like this lip balm as a nighttime treatment. I can honestly say, though, it is not better than the Vaseline I typically use every night. I can say, however, that it works. It sort of doubles as a lip gloss and chap stick. It is thick, so a little goes a long way. This small samples-sized tube should last you awhile!

theBalm cosmetics’ Hot Mama Shadow & Blush

I have seen these guys in Sephora and I have heard good things, but I never got around to trying them. This blush is a beautiful peachy-champaigne color. This shade is perfect for fair girls as a blush and as a highlight for darker girls. It ca also be used as an eyeshadow (which I have yet to try). I am in love! It has the perfect amount of sparkle, pigment, and blend ability.

Over all, I am very happy with Birchbox. It is a great way to try out new products before you buy them at full price. You can discover new brands and learn what works for you. I am excited to try December’s box!
