One of the most popular makeup tutorials on Youtube as of late has been about how to get Kylie Jenner’s lips or what products she uses to achieve her look. Kylie’s look consists of a nude color and what appears to be overdrawn lips. Does Kylie Jenner have lip injections? Who knows? I mean, who even cares? She has very big, luscious lips that anyone who loves Angelina Jolie wants to have. She looks fabulous and so will you!
Overdrawing
I see way too many people try to follow tutorials on Youtube where they talk about how to overdraw your lips. My friends try to do it and end up looking like Sally (above) after a drunk hookup. Listen up: there is a huge difference between Kylie Jenner lips and straight-up clown makeup. Tip: instead of going all out and winging it, try taking a sharpened lip pencil and first decide what look you want. I normally start at the cupid’s bow, as this is the hardest part to outline (in my opinion). I typically like a pointed cupid’s bow like Rihanna, so I make each side of the cupid’s bow peaked like this:
If you want to have Kylie Jenner’s lips, though, you’ll likely want to round out your cupids bow a bit, as she doesn’t have a very defined one. After I have my cupid’s bow outlined, I jump over to the corners of my lips. This is also where I see the most mistakes. When outlining the outer corners and moving closer to the center of the lips, don’t go outside of the natural line of of the corners of your lips. As you move toward the center, don’t go any farther out of your lips then if you were to have an extra line around your natural lip line, if that makes any sense. On the right is what it would look like if you outlined on your natural lip line; on the left is how an overdrawn lip line should look. It’s almost like you just thickened your natural lip line.
After you have your lips nicely outlined I like to fill in the first third on each side of the bottom lip with the same pencil before blending it in with whatever lipstick I choose to wear.
