Winter Makeup

In 2015, makeup for the fall and winter is all about natural beauty. Youthful, flawless skin, flushed cheeks, and lips in natural colors are what this sweater weather is all about. But, for those that do love some bold colors, don’t worry, there is still an alternative.

The best way for your skin to look youthful is to use a foundation that’ll give off a dewy finish instead of matte. If you don’t have one on hand, you can add 1-2 drops of your favorite oil to your normal amount of foundation. This’ll give you a baby soft finish and allow the makeup to easily blend into the skin. Plus, the oil will give a moisturizing property that we all need during the winter. I’d begin by dotting the mixture onto problem areas and then using a beauty blender/sponge to blend it into your skin. Then, I’d powder my t-zone and add a subtle highlighter to the cheekbones.

Now that you have your skin nice and flawless, It is time to add a bit of color to your cheeks to make it look like you were just out in the snow. This’ll instantly add life to your face, especially if you are pale. Apply lightly to the apples of your cheeks. If you have oily skin, powder blush is best, but dry skin may do better with cream blush.

Lips

If you’d like to stay with the natural and youthful look, a matte mauve/nude/light pink would be best. A matte finish is best to contrast with your dewy skin. Think Kylie Jenner.

If you are into a bolder look, but like this youthful look, you can follow all steps before this and just opt for a matte vampy lip. Plums, Oxbloods, and Burgundies are probably your best option. This can quickly turn this look from Juliet to Kat Von D in -2 seconds. I personally prefer this option.

I would leave the eyes naked and treat the eyelids the same way as the rest of the face (foundation, etc.) to emphasize the undone, winter babe look. This is similar to my 90’s look. But if you’d like to do something with your eyes, you can use a taupe on the crease and some whispy lashes for a doe-eyed appearance.
